Bikes and bags go together like sunshine and summer, or coffee with camping. Right? I love a well-made bike bag. And, if it’s it waxed canvas? Forget about it, take my money. Well, hold on to your britches, one of my favorite lil’ companies, Camp and Go Slow, just dropped a small batch of some handsome new Piccolo Bags in two colors, Western and Eastern.

They are made by Jay at Bags by Bird, and they look handsome AF!

Plus, if you saw my post on Camp’s new Trout Bar Tape a few weeks ago, and went to order some, but found it out of stock, it’s back in stock today.

Casey notified me that this batch of Trout Tape will be the last batch of the year.

Plus… artist Ron Rash collaborated with Camp and Go Slow to design some cool, “I Brake for Snakes” heavyweight USA-made t-shirts, stickers, and embroidered patches.

While most special pro edition bikes and components go over the top with outlandish styling, the only thing coming out the top of these two new MET Tadej Pogačar Blačk edition road helmets are his signature locks. Whether that playful logo symbolizing Tadej’s famous hair-odynamics is enough to motivate you to ride faster is probably up to you…

“Victory is more than a destination; it’s an equation that combines perseverance, sacrifice, commitment, courage, and a touch of luck. Tadej has shown us that true champions don’t just win—they inspire and redefine the limits of possibility.”

MET talks about Pogačar inspiring a new generation of cyclists and cycling fans as the embodiment of a new “Golden Era” of professional road cycling. So they’ve created a couple of special edition helmets. And they’ve given them an extra caron – the strešica or little roof accent – to remind us all to pronounce the Slovenian cyclist’s name with a ch sound.

Black becomes Blačk, “symbolizing elegance and authority“, and is accented with gold in reference to an astonishing number of big 2024 victories.

I mean, he won this year’s Road World Championship, the Tour de France, and Giro d’Italia to name just the big highlights. Not forgetting Strade Bianche, Volta a Catalunya & Liège-Bastogne-Liège at the start of the season and then closing out Il Lombardia just a few weeks ago, plus a few more in between.

So yeah, he deserves some special editions. And these Pogačar Blačk editions actually look great without going over the top. Just pick from the light Trenta 3K Carbon or full aero Manta

Designed and made in Italy, the new HYPE sunglasses were debuted by the Red Bull – BORA – Hansgrohe team in October at the Il Lombardia. Ten different color/lens combinations of the HYPE sunglasses will be available.

KOO HYPE extra-ventilated cycling sunglasses

KOO HYPE extra ventilated cycling sunglasses on pro Red Bull rider

Design-wise, the HYPE sunglasses feature a squared shape with dual lenses that offer a wide field-of-vision. KOO uses polycarbonate Zeiss lenses, which are toric-shaped (with a double curvature) to minimize optical distortion.

The lens width is 141mm, and frames are 151mm wide overall.

KOO HYPE sunglasses, side, on rider

With airflow as a design priority, the HYPE sunglasses include vent ports on either side of the frames plus a center vent at the bridge of the nose. These vents aim to provide ample airflow to keep fogging to a minimum during high-intensity rides.

The HYPE frames feature wraparound temples for a secure fit, and their arm length is 115mm. The lightweight frames are made from 45% bio-based polymers, so a pair of HYPEs weighs in at just 30g (claimed).

The HYPE sunglasses are also compatible with KOO’s optical clip. The optical clip is an extra frame that can host prescription lenses. The clip sits inside the shaded lens and snaps onto the nose bridge of the sunglasses. Optical clips are available in black or clear.

Minnesota machining Masters, Wolf Tooth Components (WTC), have added four fun colors to the Morse Cargo Cage line. The Morse Cargo Cage is unique in that it carries the same dot-dash mounting system as WTC’s uber-popular Morse Cage. This system allows for many mounting options for the user.

Now along with Black, the new colors added to the line are Olive, Espresso, Raw Silver, and Gold (for that extra cargo bling).

The Morse Cargo Cage is designed to increase the ability to bring stuff on your bicycle. This makes the cage ideal for bikepacking, sef-supported racing, coffee outside gear, or any time you need more space on your ride.

It can fit fork bags, fat Nalgene bottles, or even a stout and tasty burrito. You can buy these versatile cages by themselves, or you can add a pair of WTC’s new Cargo Straps to help secure said burrito to the cage. The Cargo Straps are sold separately as well.

The Morse Cargo Cage fits perfectly on a fork with three-pack mounting. Not to mention, it will also fit anywhere there are bottle bosses. There are convenient bolt mounting points on the angled sides of the cage for added versatility.

This is especially helpful on forks that have bottle bosses on the front or the back. In this scenario, you may be able to mount two cages on one fork leg.

Last month, Cory wrote a piece on the “2-Watt saving” Aero computer mount made by California’s Nano Worx. Nano Worx is at it again with a new product. But this time there will be no watt savings. Introducing their new Nano Worx Hook Lever Multi-Tool – it’s compact, lightweight, and very clever.

Nano Worx Hook Lever Tool profile
(Photo / Nano Worx)

The Nano Worx Hook Lever Multi-Tool integrates a tire lever with three cleverly stowed tool bits in the handle. The bits are slid into the handle, one on top of the other. Once they are inside the handle the included o-ring is stretched around it to secure the tool bits.

Nano Worx Hook Lever Tool with bit

The tool uses an integrated magnet that holds the bits in place while in use and keeps them quiet when stowed. The Nano Worx Hook Lever Multi-Tool looks great for the rider who needs to free up space and lighten up a saddle bag.

Buyer’s Choice…

Offering the three “buyer’s choice” bits is a unique way for the rider to stow only the tools used the most. The choices are three of the following: M6, M5, M4, M3, or a T25. With a combo of an M6 (highly recommended for axle removal), M5, and the T25 you can make simple adjustments to your steed. Add the integrated tire lever and you have what you need for a trailside flat repair.

Thule AllTrail 10L Hydration Pack Has A Great Hose Magnet and Durable, Weather Resistant Fabric https://bikerumor.com/thule-alltrail-10l-hydration-pack-review/ https://bikerumor.com/thule-alltrail-10l-hydration-pack-review/#comments Mon, 11 Nov 2024 15:30:14 +0000 https://bikerumor.com/?p=372062 Tired of hydration hoses bouncing around? Thule's ReTrakt system may be the answer

The post Thule AllTrail 10L Hydration Pack Has A Great Hose Magnet and Durable, Weather Resistant Fabric appeared first on Bikerumor.

]]>

Despite the influx of in-frame or on-bike storage options, I don’t think hydration packs will ever disappear from mountain biking. They are an excellent option for hauling a lot of water, and extra layers for cool or wet rides. This year I got to test Thule’s AllTrail 10L pack and found it to be a solid pack for hauling plenty of water and cargo.

The AllTrail 10L offers a great magnet system to hold the bladder’s straw, and I was impressed by its durable and weather-resistant fabric. Its back panel ventilation is nothing special, but it is comfortable to wear. The AllTrail 10L’s functionality and construction quality meet my expectations from an established brand like Thule.

Thule AllTrail 10L Hydration Pack – Construction and Features:

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, front
Please note, the fabric Thule used for this pack seems to produce patterns when digitized to certain dimensions! The naked eye does not pick up these patterns, as other photos show the pack is solid grey.

Thule’s AllTrail 10L is a mid-sized hydration pack intended for biking or hiking. For storage, this pack offers a full-length main pocket, a zippered mesh pocket inside the main cargo area, a top pocket with a key clip and mesh dividers for small items, and two stretchy mesh side pockets. The pack’s dimensions are 9x5x18.5”.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, bladder

This pack features Thule’s 2.5L bladder, which has a baffle inside to reduce movement from the water. The bladder’s slide-on top closure makes for easy filling and secure closing, and the mouthpiece has a lock-off. The AllTrail 10L includes a fabric loop to hold the bladder upright inside the pack.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, backside

One nifty and unique feature of the AllTrail 10L is Thule’s ReTrakt magnetic hose holder. A sleeve on the hose contains a long cylindrical magnet, which sticks to a similar magnet on the shoulder strap. The cover on the hose also hides the lower section of hose from sunlight and heat. This pack does not offer the option of routing your hose to either side; the magnet is fixed on the right shoulder strap.

Thule’s Air Mesh back panel aims to keep you cool and comfortable on the trails. However, while that name might suggest a floating mesh panel, it’s not that deluxe. The back panel features two full-length pads that are perforated and breathable. The inside of the shoulder straps are lined with the same material, but the straps themselves are not cut out or perforated.

The AllTrail 10L’s waist strap is detachable, and the sternum strap is height-adjustable. Thule included elastic loops to wrangle the loose ends of the waist straps and sternum straps. However, the shoulder straps get a plastic slider instead, which does leave the tail ends hanging.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, web loops and carry handle

A top carry handle makes it easy to move this pack around pre/post-ride, or during trailside stops. One web loop for attaching a rear light is located on the lower back. There are also two rows of semi-hidden webbing loops for attaching other accessories or cargo. All the zippers get string pulls for easy operation with gloved hands.

Eco-friendly folks will be pleased to know the AllTrail 10L is made with Bluesign-certified polyester main fabric and a PFC-free DWR CO coating.

Ride Impressions:

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, SF, climbing

I’ve been riding the AllTrail 10L pack since spring, so it’s been put through a good number of test rides. The pack and bladder have had no functional issues at all. The pack is still in practically perfect condition, and the bladder hasn’t leaked a drop. One thing I was happy to notice was how well the straps stayed in place. I’ve had no slippage from the buckles on the shoulder, waist, or sternum straps.

This pack offers a good amount of cargo space, but not a ton of pockets to divide up your stuff. The largest main pocket can carry any reasonably packable midlayer or jacket, with room to spare. There is one zippered mesh pocket inside for smaller items. Aside from that, you get a top pocket with two mesh pouches inside. All in all, you have five inside pockets to divide up your tools and cargo. The pack also has mesh pockets on both sides, providing further storage for items that don’t need to be zippered up and weather-protected.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, SF, side shot

The least impressive aspect of this pack is probably the Air Mesh back panel’s ventilation. It’s nothing fancy, just two large perforated pads. The pack is perfectly comfortable, but it’s not the coolest as it does contact a fairly large area of your back. As for the shoulder straps, I’ve seen lighter and more breathable designs from other brands.

While the dangling shoulder strap ends never posed a problem, I don’t like how Thule put plastic sliders on them instead of the elastic loops they used elsewhere. The sliders tend to slide up the straps and don’t do much to keep the loose ends from dangling freely. As some of the photos show, I left the packaging tape on the straps for several weeks since it kept them bundled up.

As for water, 2.5L is enough capacity to get most riders through a recreational day on the trails. The AllTrail 10L is not a huge pack, but I like how Thule stuck with a big bladder as it provides the option of hauling lots of water. The mouthpiece provides ample flow, and even though I never locked it off it didn’t leak once while I rode.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, ReTrakt straw magnet

Thule did win me over with their magnetic ReTrakt straw attachment! This design works very well, with a slight toss in the right direction the hose easily snaps back into place as you ride. Only once or twice during my testing, the straw did not return to the magnet strip, and a quick nudge got it secured. There is a clip above the magnet strip, but I was always able to drink without unclipping the hose. I don’t mind having the straw on the right side, but if you like yours on the left you’re out of luck with the AllTrail 10L.

Thule AllTrail 10L hydration pack, wet

After many test rides, I’m very impressed with the AllTrail pack’s durability and weather resistance. There are no abrasions, tears, or excess wear anywhere on the fabric, and it fended off light rain really well. More than once I rode in light to steady rain for about an hour, mostly exposed to the sky, and the pack held the rain off perfectly. Everything inside was bone dry and there were large beads of water sitting on the outer fabric. I also noticed the fabric seems pretty resistant to mud splatter, which doesn’t stain the pack easily.

Thule’s AllTrail 10L hydration pack retails for $109.95. It is available in Black, Pond (as tested), or Faded Khaki colors.

2025 Leatt MTB Kit, expanded mountain bike riding clothing range, especially for women

We got a preview of it over the summer, but now the 2025 Leatt MTB clothing range is officially here. And there’s some great riding footage to get us psyched for a new season of hitting the trails in new shred-worthy mountain bike riding kit. The new 2025 line-up includes their all-new Women’s Trail & Enduro Apparel line, a new DH & gravity race kit developed with Pivot Factory Racing, and the simple low-cost Ride Kit 1.0 that pairs a set of long-sleeve jersey & pants combined for less than a hundred bucks for kids or adults…

2025 Leatt expanded mountain bike riding clothing line

Forgive me, but this is almost gonna seem like a regurgitated marketing press release from a new season of mountain bike riding clothing. But that’s kinda exactly what it is.

We already covered Leatt’s huge new move into MTB components in-depth this past July. There will be pedals, bars, stems, grips, and even a full-face-specific water bottle. All interesting new tech to geek out on with us. And at the time they teased us with new riding clothing too.

The big clothing news they gave us detail on then, were the sub $100 / 100€ sets of riding pants and long-sleeve jerseys that were meant to make their premium fit, quality materials, and style much more accessible to the average enduro and gravity mountain bike rider. And even cheaper for the next generation of kids shredding trails these days.

But they also promised more gender parity – expanding full Trail & Enduro line-ups for women. That’s a pretty big deal in our book.

Because what they had already offered for women was generally great – and has been some of my wife’s favorite riding gear for the past 2 years – but the options for women have always been quite limited.

So we’re happy to see more options for women. And we’ll definitely try to get a bunch of this new clothing in to test at the beginning of next season.

Plus, Leatt’s big deal is really protection, so there’s new knee & elbow pads, and new upper body protection vests, too.

OK, read on for the PR-speak directly from the mouths of Leatt…

All-New 2025 Leatt Women’s Trail range

Leatt’s new Women Trail jerseys are constructed from a Bluesign-approved fabric called IceYarn Knit, a quick-drying material. The casual T-shirts and long sleeves have subtle Leatt branding, with barely any logos visible apart from the small reflective branding at the back bottom hem (from $65 / 65€).

The new Women’s Trail shorts and pants include detachable chamois-liners and have a lightweight, flexible fit. The stretch of the waist and back panels ensure that the shorts or pants are comfortable from the first ride (from $99 / 99€).

All-New 2025 Leatt Women’s Enduro range

Leatt claims to have created THE Enduro pants and shorts for women. A flexible and supportive waist construction is combined with a 3-layer waterproof and taped seat liner. The result is full freedom of movement as well as complete waterproofing, no matter how muddy the saddle gets. The overall 4-way flex construction has an additional “DeFlextion” reinforcement in the seat area and knee section, making it as comfortable as durable. Storage comes in the form of five zippered pockets, one of which is mesh (from $99 / 109€).

Like the Trail range, the long and short-sleeved jerseys are made from IceYarn fabric. The prints and colorways are simple and understated, and the finish is super soft for sensitive skin. With laser-cut ventilation and an integrated goggle wiper, these jerseys have all the bases covered at a fair price point (from $65 / 65€).

Men’s premium Downhill 5.0 line-up

The 5.0 Gravity models are the result of all of Leatt’s R&D knowledge, plus the experience of the Pivot Factory Racing team. The 5.0 jersey uses state-of-the-art fabric construction technologies – the sleeves are made from a combination of CoWeave and DeFlextion materials. Using a custom-programmed 3D-knit, it has seamless transitions from ventilation areas into reinforcement areas. The sleeves have a tight fit, ideal for aerodynamics, while the torso section is looser to maximize freedom of movement.

The 5.0 Gravity pants also feature a CoWeave and DeFlextion seamless construction in the lower leg. The upper leg is made from a flexible, lightweight 4-way stretch fabric, while the seat area is enhanced with a bonded, waterproof liner. For a perfect fit around the waist, Leatt uses a slimline, lightweight, motocross-inspired Hypalon belt construction. Due to these advanced production techniques and the chosen high-end fabrics, the pants and jerseys aren’t cheap: Pants are $189 / 189€, Jerseys $99 / 99€.

The Ride Kit 1.0: ultra-affordable enduro, gravity & DH MTB riding sets

Less than 100 bucks for a jersey and pants set! And for kids, it’s less than 90.

The Ride Kit 1.0 shares the fit of the high-end 5.0 Gravity kit, but makes use of more “classic” fabrics and seam-stitched construction. The chosen material is still Bluesign-approved, flexible, breathable, and fast-drying. OK, fewer zippers & pockets and a simple moto-style buckle waist closure… but still some laser-cut vent holes and goggle wiper included.

This jersey-pant combo looks and feels way more expensive than it is. The cut and style, featuring minimal branding, makes it great for trail riding, as well. The pants and sleeves come in all black only, and the main body comes in a choice of black, grey, brown, or teal. Recommended retail pricing is: Adults $99 / 99€ and Kids (starting on a body height of 110cm) $89 / 89€ for set of both pants & long-sleeve jersey.

New 5.0 3DF EVO Pads protective gear

Leatt’s best-selling pads have been around for 8 years now. How to make a good product even better? Make it more lightweight, improve fit and breathability. That’s it.

The latest evolution of the 5.0 features a more ventilated, ergonomic 3DF pads, with a slightly lower profile. It is constructed with DeFlextion fabric, keeping it super robust, but still light and flexible. The main sleeve construction has also been ergonomically improved. The knee pad comes in three versions: a full-sleeve knee pad, a FastFit open-construction knee pad (no need to take the shoes off), and a knee-shin pad combo. Prices start from $99 / 109€. Elbow pads retail at $89 / 99€.

FlexMesh & FlexMesh Pro protectors get better ventilation

Leatt’s 2025 MTB range offers six new upper body protectors, including Chest and Backs-only. The biggest change has been made to the damping material and its construction, with the introduction of FlexMesh (single density) and FlexMesh Pro (dual-density) padding, a 3D mesh construction. Traditional damping material is heavy and bulky, and has small ventilation holes. Conversely, FlexMesh holes are bigger than the damping material itself, maximizing ventilation (Leatt claims plus 50%) and bringing the weight down by 11%. Flex joints allow for 3D flexing and a comfortable fit.

The hard shells covering the FlexMesh pads are also fully vented, and are available in black and white color options. Prices start at $179 / 189€ for a Chest/Back FlexMesh protector 4.5 Evo, and go up to the maximum protective product, the Body Protector 5.5 Evo (FlexMesh Pro at chest & back, plus additional flanks/rips, shoulder, and elbow protection) retailing at $349 / 379€.

Northwave Revolution revamped carbon-soled performance road bike shoes

Northwave has a new pair of carbon-soled road bike shoes called Revolution, high-performance at a mid-tier price. And while there’s really nothing radically unique about them, the completely revamped shoes do look solid, delivering much of the performance of Northwave’s top-level pro road shoes, just with added comfort and the option for a wide fit to appeal to a broader group of recreational road riders.

Northwave says not to call it “mid-range” but that’s exactly what the Revolution road shoes are. They’ve been around for years a step below Northwave’s Extreme family. But now, just like last fall’s top-tier Veloce Extreme road shoe upgrade, the more affordable Revolutions are better than ever, too.

What’s new? What’s not new!

The revamped Northwave Revolution is pretty much all-new. The most obvious change on the outside is the new multi-layer laminated polyurethane synthetic upper. It now gets more advanced reinforcement around the instep & heel for improved support, plus laser-perforated holes on both sides & over the toebox for good ventilation. Plus, there’s a new laminated mesh tongue construction to also help keep your feet cool.

The next big shift is underneath. The new Northwave Revolution now features a stiffer 13/15 full injection-molded carbon composite sole for efficient but comfortable pedaling. The new Morph Carbon sole now features thru-venting under the cleat, a rubber toe block for walkability & bump protection, and a replaceable rubber heel tread block.

It still incorporates Powershape arch support, compatibility with traditional 3-bolt road cleats, and direct mounting of low-stack Wahoo/Speedplay pedals with the optional Northwave adapter plate.

And finally, a new Wide Fit option, too. More than just making them wider, Northwave reshaped the Revolution Wide shoes with different toe, metatarsal & instep dimensions optimized around still providing a high performance for cyclists that need more volume.

The completely renewed Northwave Revolution road cycling shoes promise a ‘pro’ look at a more affordable price with a bit of flex for better all-day comfort. The Revolutions sell for $250 / 225€ in four colors. We see all-white, all-black, and the light gray with sage green details here. But there also will be a pair with fluorescent red accents soon, as well.

All come in EU sizes 36-50 (and half sizes in the middle of the range), both in standard narrow Pro fit and a new Wide Fit option, too.

Northwave says they’ll be available in their web shop “soon”, as well as through regular dealers.
