The original ‘Masterpiece’ was made by BikeAhead Composites in Germany. It retailed for €12,000 for a frameset, when the much more expensive to manufacture Stoll full suspension bikes also contract manufactured by BAhC cost about 40% of that, and their road bikes less than 50%. BAhC’s own hardtails cost just over a sixth of the BMC. So you see the cost of marketing. Supposedly these new frames are made in Switzerland by BMC, but they mothballed or sold all the production equipment years ago, and again this looks like BAhC …

Anyway, you’re mad to pay this ticket price if you do. And BMC are mad doing a super high end version when they barely supplied any of the standard R to the channel, and there’s 3-5 years worth of ancient last-gen TeamMachine and RoadMachine models sitting at dealers with no prospect of selling … and they’re in an equivalent of bankruptcy protection, and they’ve been up for sale for over a year. This smells like another vanity project for a company that’s been living on borrowed time since it lost its money pit when the billionaire owner died a few years ago.

Instead you’re probably spending another $1000 at least for that option.

That many superlatives and so little technical info makes me a little leery though…
